About London Beyond Sight – 2013 Jodi Award winning project

London Beyond Sight – Audio Description of London Landmarks by key LONDONERS

The VocalEyes London Beyond Sight project has won the 2013 Jodi Award for Access Planning and User Engagement, and Impact.

A resource audio describing London’s landmarks for blind and partially sighted people, both visitors and Londoners alike.

VocalEyes has invited a number of prominent Londoners to give their voice to and work with our professional describers to create a series of descriptions for landmarks and hidden gems in London.  The famous Londoners will give their reasons for selecting their landmark and share some fascinating stories and personal memories.

You will also find below on this web page links to view / download the scripts of the London Beyond Sight audio files as Word documents.

Bravo London Beyond Sight from Art Beyond Sight. Since 2006, our New York Beyond Sight has offered verbal descriptions of our city’s landmark buildings, public art and historic sites via online recordings by prominent New Yorkers www.nybeyondsight.org.  We are delighted that now UK natives and tourists, sighted and blind, can similarly enjoy London’s visual riches. Our two sites reflect two great cities and are inspiring models for cities around the world! – Elisabeth Axel, founder and president, Art Beyond Sight
