Life-drawing workshop

Join the Royal Academy for an audio described life-drawing workshop designed for blind and partially sighted visitors. This workshop will be featured in the upcoming BBC Four documentary The Disordered Eye.

Blind artist David Johnson and experienced audio describer and artist Harry Baxter will lead this workshop. Participants will be supported to experiment with a range of artistic materials to respond to the life model, who will be disabled artist and filmmaker Richard Butchins.

This event is free and all are welcome, including those with no art experience. Materials, refreshments and staff support will be provided.

This workshop will be filmed for the upcoming BBC Four documentary The Disordered Eye. Richard Butchins will challenge the importance of good vision in making great art. He investigates the impact of changed vision on art, looking at some of the great painters of history through the lens of their impaired vision.

To participate in the workshop, film and photo consent is required. For more information or booking support, please contact access@royalacademy.org.uk
