VocalEyes are delighted to announce a new online training course suitable for individuals with an access role within the theatre industry. Please find an outline of the course below, with session dates and times and how to book.
Audio Description for Access Champions and Managers
4-hour online session, delivered via Zoom, £50 +VAT per person
This four-hour training course will introduce skills and information to equip people with access roles within theatres to run a successful programme of audio described theatre and to support blind and visually impaired visitors. It will be delivered by Trish Hodson of Access & Inclusivity Matters, VocalEyes-trained audio describer and former access programme manager at the Bristol Hippodrome.
The aim of the course is to give participants a broad grounding in what is needed to deliver a successful audio description programme, so that they can work effectively with colleagues in marketing, box office, technical, FOH and of course audio describers themselves to ensure excellent customer experiences for people who are blind or visually impaired.
On completion of the course trainees will have been supported to:
- Consider the challenges blind and visually impaired people have when they attend their venue, and ways to alleviate them.
- Understand how audio descriptions are prepared and delivered so they can best support audio describers, but also communicate effectively with colleagues and audiences about the service.
- Learn how to engage with audiences for audio described theatre and work with marketing departments to both develop and maintain those audiences.
