If you are coming by car, there is parking for blue badge holders in Morley Street next to the Theatre. Please note that there is a barrier half way down Morley Street. Approach the barrier, press the button and state that you require a blue badge holder parking space, into the speaker. The barrier operator will then let you through.
If you are attending a performance at The Alhambra you can pay reduced parking rates at certain car parks. Please ask at the theatre for further details.
The main entrance to the theatre has three sets of double doors, made of glass and steel. These lead to a foyer and box office area. Please note that two of these entrances have two steps leading up to them. The entrance furthest to the left has a ramp. There is also a separate level access entrance into the stalls on the Great Horton Road side of the building, where there is also an accessible toilet. Unfortunately the Alhambra Theatre does not have a passenger lift; however the theatre staff will be happy to escort patrons to upper levels in a goods lift, if requested.
The foyer itself has a pale marble floor with a geometric pattern. The box office where you can collect your tickets is situated on the far side of the foyer, opposite the main entrance doors. To the right of the box office is an information desk, and to the left, a refreshment kiosk.
To the left of the foyer, a spiral staircase leads up to Dress and Upper circle levels. To the right of the foyer, steps lead up to a raised balcony level where there’s a restaurant and a seating area. From this level there are three steps to the stalls entrance – which brings you in at the rear of the auditorium.
There are toilets and bars on each level of the theatre.
If you would like to listen to the introductory notes, you should take your seat at least 20 minutes before the start of the performance. Headsets are issued by front of house staff within the auditorium. When you arrive please let the theatre staff know that you wish to use the audio description service. They will also have copies of the Braille and large print cast lists.
The auditorium is traditionally decorated with red velvet seating and an intricately decorated ceiling with chandeliers and oil paintings. It seats approximately 1400 people on three levels: stalls, a dress circle and the “Gods” or Upper Circle.
Entrances to the auditorium bring you in to the rear of the stalls. The dress circle and Gods are accessed up a spiral staircase leading from the left hand side of main foyer area at the front of the building. There are additional exit staircases which lead directly out of the building to each side of the theatre.
Please note that this information has been supplied by the venue and although every effort has been made to check details, you may still have some queries. In this case, we would ask you to contact the theatre direct for clarification.
