English National Opera offers audio introductions of selected performances for blind and partially sighted patrons. These are relayed over the wireless/infrared loop at the theatre 15 minutes before the start of each performance. It can be accessed via a headset that is supplied free of charge. To pick up your headset, visit the information desk in the London Coliseum foyer.
The commentary is usually about ten minutes in length and provides production details of the setting, characters and costumes. It also contains background information about the production, and a brief synopsis of the first Act. A shorter five-minute commentary covering later scenes and acts is available during each interval.
If you prefer, ENO will send you this in advance, either by CD in the post, or as an audio link via email. Simply email [email protected] with your preference.
The audio introductions are produced by Sightlines Audio Description.
