Novello Theatre

Novello Theatre

The address of the Novello theatre is the Aldwych, London WC2B 4LD. It’s situated next door to the Waldorf Hotel.

If you are arriving by car you can be dropped off outside the main entrance on the Aldwych.  The nearest NCP carpark is in Drury Lane.  Bus numbers 6, 19, 13 and 77a stop outside the theatre with many more serving the Strand.  The nearest tube stations are Covent Garden which is about 300m from the theatre, or Charing Cross and Holborn, both about 600m away.

At the main entrance there are three sets of glass panelled doors leading into an outer foyer. The centre doors are usually pinned open and there is one step up, then seven steps up to double doors leading into the main foyer. There are handrails on both sides of these steps, and the double doors open both ways.

Access for wheelchair users is situated along Catherine Street, where there is a chairlift.  Please contact the theatre for further details.

The Box office is situated to the left of the main foyer, where there is also a kiosk selling merchandise.  To the right of the foyer is a cloakroom where you can collect your headsets, Braille and large print cast lists. A £5 deposit will be required for the headset. If you would like to listen to the introductory notes, you should collect your headset in good time to take your seat 15 minutes before the start of the performance. Also on the right of the foyer is a staircase leading up to the Grand Circle and Balcony.

Straight ahead of you is another staircase which goes up to the Dress Circle. On either side of this staircase are flights of stairs going down to the stalls and the side entrances of the Dress circle.

There are toilets and bars on every level of the theatre. The bars are open 45 minutes before the start of a performance. An access host will be on hand should you require any assistance – please ask any member of the theatre staff.
The auditorium of the Novello theatre is traditional in style.  There are 4 levels, the Stalls, Dress Circle, Grand Circle and the Balcony, seating over 1100 people.  The seats on each level are arranged in one block, with aisles either side.  The seats flip up when not occupied.  In the stalls the floor slopes down towards the stage.  On the other three levels there is a step between each row.
