Access Information for the Savoy Theatre

 The address of the Savoy Theatre is Savoy Court, The Strand, London WC2R 0ET. Savoy Court is opposite the Strand Palace Hotel and the theatre is next to the Savoy Hotel.

If arriving by car, you can be dropped off on the Strand, or behind the theatre on Carting Lane. Taxis can also stop directly outside the Theatre on Savoy Court.

The nearest car park is the multi-level NCP at the bottom of Haymarket. There is a Blue Badge parking bay on Exeter Street which is a short walk from the Theatre.

The Theatre is well serviced by local bus routes along The Strand. If you are travelling in the direction of Fleet Street, Holborn or Waterloo, get off the bus at Stop A, Southampton Street, Covent Garden. This is outside the hardware store Robert Dyas. If you are travelling in the direction of Trafalgar Square, get off the bus at Stop A, Savoy Street. This stop is outside Cards Galore.

The nearest tube stations to the Savoy Theatre are, Covent Garden on the Piccadilly line, and Charing Cross on the Northern and Bakerloo, which also services mainline trains.

There is a taxi rank on Savoy Court outside the Theatre’s main entrance. TFL operates a ‘dial-a-ride’ scheme which will assist in providing free or subsidised transportation. Further information is available on the TFL website: tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/3222.aspx

The main entrance to the theatre is on Savoy Court. There are no steps. The doors are heavy brass with glass panels and open towards you. They are usually pinned open one and a half hours before the performance.

 The main foyer is approximately 10 metres by 4. The Box Office is on the far right and has three windows from which to collect tickets. On the far left is a stairwell that leads down to the Stalls and the Dress Circle. Straight ahead there is a mirrored wall, in front of which is a waist-height shelf where leaflets are displayed.

 Headsets can be collected from the Box Office and in some cases you may be asked for a (returnable) deposit of £10. Large Print and Braille cast lists will be available from a member of staff in the foyer.

If you would like to listen to the introductory notes, you should collect your headset in good time to take your seat fifteen minutes before the start of the performance.

 The toilets are situated down the stairs on the left of the foyer. Please ask a member of staff to direct you to your nearest one.

There are three bars accessible from the foyer – The Dress Circle, Mezzanine and Stalls. To get to any of these bars take the stairs down on the left of the foyer. There is a cloakroom on the Dress Circle level, which also functions as a merchandise kiosk. Staff will be available to direct you.

If you would like to make use of the ‘at seat’ service, please ask a member of staff. You will be able to place an order and pay with cash, for drinks, refreshments, snacks, ice cream or merchandise, which will be delivered directly to you in your seat.

To get to the auditorium seating in the Dress Circle and the Stalls use the same stairs going down from the foyer. There are 32 steps down to the Dress Circle level and 75 down to the stalls. Please note that there is no lift. The Upper Circle level (which is also referred to as the Grand Circle) is accessed from Savoy Court, using the door near to the Savoy Hotel. There are two steps, and then further steps up or down depending on where you are sitting.

The seating in the stalls is arranged in one block, with an aisle either side. In the Dress Circle the seating is divided by a walkway running the width of the auditorium between rows F and G. In the upper circle the seating is divided by a walkway between rows E and F.

If you require level access, the Carting Lane entrance is step-free into the theatre’s Dress Circle level and can be accessed from 30 minutes before the start of the performance. If you wish to use this entrance, please telephone the Stage Door on 020 7845 6050 when you arrive. The walk from the theatre’s main entrance on Savoy Court, to the Carting Lane entrance takes about ten to twenty minutes.

Guide Dogs and hearing dogs are welcome at the Savoy Theatre. If you are taking your dog into the auditorium please inform the box office if you have not already done so, to ensure that an aisle seat is available. Alternatively you may leave your dog with the Front of House team during the performance.
