The address of Brighton Theatre Royal is New Road, Brighton, BN1 1SD.
It’s situated opposite Brighton Royal Pavilion, on the garden side.
If you are arriving by car, you can be dropped off outside the main entrance on New Road. There’s street parking for disabled badge holders close to the main entrance, or the nearest car park is the NCP on Church Street. Theatre customers can get discounted car park charges after 6pm Monday to Saturday, and for the Thursday matinee, by validating their car parking ticket in a machine in the foyer of the theatre.
Most of the central Brighton buses stop on North Street which is a two minute walk from the theatre.
Brighton Central Station is a 15 minute walk. Leave the station via the main exit and pass the Budgens store on the left. Continue onto Queens Road, staying on the left hand side. You will pass the Brighthelm gardens, then take the next left into church street. Continue past the NCP car park on your right and then turn right into New Road – the theatre is on the right hand side.
If you wish to call a taxi from the theatre, there’s a taxi phone in the foyer by the Box Office.
There are 2 double doors at the main entrance, which open both ways. They’re wooden with large glass panels. These doors lead into the foyer – there are no steps.
The Box Office is on the right and there’s a large kiosk counter on the left, where you can collect your headsets. If you would like to listen to the introductory notes, you should collect your headset in good time to take your seat 15 minutes before the start of the performance. This is also a good opportunity to check you are happy with the reception through your headset. Please contact a member of staff if you are having any difficulties.
Beyond the kiosk there’s a set of double doors to the Stalls bar and an accessible toilet. There are also toilets located at the rear of each seating area in the auditorium. As well as the stalls bar, there are bars on the Royal Circle, Second Circle and Gallery levels.
Stairs go to all the upper levels – there’s no lift. To reach the Royal Circle level take the stairs to the right of the stalls bar. There are 22 steps. Access to the Second Circle level is to the left of the foyer, up 41 steps. The Gallery Level is reached via the Second Circle. Staff will be available to direct you.
The auditorium is a horseshoe shape. The building is over 200 years old and still has its original style décor. In the stalls the seating is arranged in one block, but in the Royal Circle, Second Circle and Gallery there’s a central aisle. All the seats flip up when not in use.
When entering the stalls you arrive in the low numbered seats half way back at the side of the auditorium. The stage is to the left, the toilets to the right through a door at the back of the auditorium, Gents on the right, Ladies on the left. Wheelchair positions are in the rear stalls.
Please note that this information has been supplied by the venue and although every effort has been made to check details, you may still have some queries. In this case, we would ask you to contact the theatre direct for clarification.
