It is situated opposite the bus and National Express coach stations in the centre of Leeds. For local bus and train times, call the METROLINE information service on 0113 245 7676.
After leaving the bus station there are two busy roads to cross with pelican crossings, but once over the other side, there are both steps and a ramp which lead you from the street right up to the main entrance.
Leeds train station is approximately 15 minutes walk, or you can catch the free city bus from outside the station which drops you off at the bus station opposite the theatre.
If you are coming by car, Quarry Hill car park is right next the Playhouse and Union Street Car park is opposite. Blue Badge Holders can park in these car parks for free. Disabled parking is also available on Playhouse Square, directly outside the main entrance. These car parks are operated by Leeds City Council. Further information can be obtained from Parking Services on 0113 247 4140. If you are being dropped off, there is a short stay point, just by the main entrances.
The Playhouse has two main entrances and the one on the left-hand side has fully automatic doors which can be opened by pressing the silver button on the wall.
Once inside, the reception and Box Office are just by the doors. Please ask a member of the theatre staff for your headset, large print and braille cast list.
If you would like to listen to the introductory notes, you should collect your headset in good time to take your seat 15 minutes before the start of the performance.
There are stairs or a lift that take you to The Quarry Theatre, The Courtyard Theatre, the restaurant, bar and coffee shop. There are also accessible toilets throughout the building. For security reasons these are radar locked but you can use your radar key to access them. If you do not have a radar key please ask at Reception.
The Quarry Theatre, seats 750 people, and The Courtyard Theatre, 350. In the Quarry theatre the seating is arranged in tiered blocks which curve around the stage. There are stepped aisles in between. The Courtyard Theatre is a rectangular space consisting of tiered seating, with two galleries that surround the central seating on three sides.
